Step into the natural beauty and history of the Isle of Man on this invigorating coastal experience. Begin with a short walk through Douglas Marina to the charming Douglas Railway Station, a striking red-brick landmark, where you’ll board a heritage steam train. Enjoy a scenic countryside journey before arriving at Port Soderick Glen, a designated Manx National Glen.
From here, explore the glen’s wooded paths and discover the remnants of Port Soderick’s Victorian seaside resort, once a bustling summer destination. Today, its secluded beach and abandoned pleasure grounds offer a hauntingly beautiful glimpse into the past. Ascend approximately 100 steps to reach the coastal country road, once the route of the Southern Electric Tramway, and continue along dramatic cliffs adorned with wildflowers and nesting seabirds such as peregrine falcons. Pause at Douglas Head for sweeping views of Snaefell Mountain and Laxey before returning to Douglas.
Please Note: This tour covers approximately 8 km (5 miles) with an elevation gain of 120 m (394 ft). The terrain includes mixed surfaces such as country roads, grass, coastal paths, and around 100 stone steps without handrails, which may be slippery. Guests should wear warm, layered, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear with ankle support. The tour is not suitable for wheelchairs or guests with limited mobility. We recommend bringing water and a light snack for the walk.
