This walking tour offers a glimpse of the modern architecture of La Coruña, with numerous buildings dating from the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century. Your guide will tell you all about the evolution of the city during that time, and will point out some of the Modernist architecture and some landmarks associated with Pablo Picasso in his younger years.
Start at Plaza Maria Pita -- a vast pedestrian square surrounded by terraced cafés and arcades in the heart of the Old Quarter. From here you'll walk along Calle Real, pausing to taste chocolate and churros.
Along Los Cantones, your guide will point out the various buildings and gardens, bringing you to a place that perfectly illustrates how narrow the peninsula is with the city draped over it.
As you approach the market, some more Modernist buildings come into view. This is the only traditional food market remaining in the city, with stalls selling fish and seafood Galician produce, fruit and meat. Taste some of the products sold here.
Finally, enjoy a sample of some Spanish wines along with some local products before you return to the ship. Guests who wish to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so, but must make their own way back to the ship.
Please note: Minimum age to drink wine is 18 years. This tour is conducted entirely on foot, wear comfortable shoes.
