As you travel from Leith toward the city center of Edinburgh, watch the landscape transform from waterfront docks to elegant Georgian streets and the dramatic skyline of Scotland's capital.
Arriving at the iconic Royal Mile, you'll stroll along the cobblestone spine of the Old Town, stretching between Edinburgh Castle and the Palace of Holyrood House. Along the way, discover hidden closes (alleys), historic courtyards, and medieval tenements. Hear stories of the monarchs, merchants, criminals, and everyday citizens who once walked these very streets.
The highlight of your tour is a visit to The Real Mary King's Close, where you'll descend beneath the Royal Mile into a remarkably well-preserved 17th-century underground street. Led by a costumed character from the era, you'll explore narrow alleyways and hear gripping tales of the Plague, mysteries, and life in Edinburgh's crowded Old Town.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring a light jacket as it can be cool underground. Tour operates rain or shine, but may be canceled by the operator in the event of extreme weather or unsuitable conditions. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, inclines, and many steps.
