Exciting, exhilarating, memorable -- welcome to Expedition Experiences by Seabourn. Zodiac, kayaking or hiking activities enable you to experience the wonders of nature up close; in-depth cultural, ethnographic and archaeological discoveries connect you to the human and natural history of Seabourn's world. Each Expedition is expertly planned, professionally operated, and escorted by skilled expedition staff.
Begin this outrageously scenic tour with a Zodiac cruise exploring the beautiful land- and seascapes of Nordfjord. Step ashore at Loen, right in front of the Hoven Loen cable car station. The cable car is one of the most spectacular adventure-tourism projects in Norway. You will board the cable car for the rather dramatic five-minute ascent to the top of Mt Hoven (3,040 feet/1,011 meters). From the upper station and restaurant, take in the 210-degree, breathtaking panoramic view. The vista stretches from Mt Skåla and Lake Lovatnet in the east, past Jostedalsbreen Glacier and Olden in the south, and over to Nordfjord, winding its way towards Stryn, in the west. You will have plenty of time at the top to enjoy the breathtaking views and stunning architecture of the station. Set out with an Expedition Team guide for a one-hour, 2.2-mile moderate-to-difficult hike on unimproved trails atop Hoven Loen. You'll also have some time to roam the trails on your own. At your leisure, take the cable car back down and tender back to the ship.
Please note: It is essential that you wear warm, layered clothing in order to fully enjoy and participate in this excursion. Outer layer should be waterproof and windproof. Bring gloves, a warm hat and a scarf. Bring binoculars. Wear sunglasses and biodegradable sunscreen; bring insect repellent. Bring a waterproof bag for your devices. There are steps to negotiate when (dis)embarking the Zodiac, with assistance offered. Terrain is uneven with steep inclines, steps and protruding rocks. Wear sturdy non-skid walking or hiking shoes. Bring a backpack to stow any layers you shed. Tour generally operates rain or shine but may be canceled in the event of extremely bad weather or unsuitable conditions. Minimum age is 6 years.
