John, Paul, George and Ringo – four young lads from Liverpool that changed the face of music forever.
The Beatles formed following a chance meeting between John Lennon and Paul McCartney at the Woolton Village fete in 1957. They released their first album, Please Please Me, in 1962 and went on to have 17 number one hits in the UK and huge success in the US charts. This Ultimate Fab Four Experience will take you from 1950s Liverpool where it all began, to the modern-day celebration of the Beatles and their song writing.
Walk in the footsteps of the Beatles in places they frequented during their formative years in Liverpool. See well known places such as Penny Lane as well as lesser-known places that were poignant in the Beatles inimitable story; their childhood homes and St Peter’s Church where Lennon & McCartney first performed together.
Your Beatles Experience will take you to Strawberry Field, immortalized in 1967 by the release of the Beatles Song, Strawberry Fields Forever. Today a heritage centre stands on the site of the former Salvation Army Children’s home where John Lennon found solace as a child playing in the grounds. At Strawberry Field visit the exhibition depicting the early years of the Beatles and enjoy a walk in the Peace Garden.
Today, Strawberry Field is a training/work placement hub for young people with learning disabilities and a place for spiritual exploration. Julia Baird, John Lennon’s sister is Honorary President.
Head back into the city for lunch Hard Days Night Hotel, the world’s only Beatles inspired hotel and filled with fabulous pictures depicting the Merseybeat scene of the 1960s.
After lunch walk with your guide along Mathew Street at the heart of Liverpool’s music scene, to the Liverpool Beatles Museum, and enjoy a visit to this extensive and privately-owned (with a family connection to The Beatles) collection of Beatles memorabilia. See a unique collection of over 1000 Beatles exhibits beautifully displayed in this Grade II listed building and hear the real story of the Beatles from your guide.
Further along Mathew Street. Venture into brick the vaulted cellars of The Caven Club, where The Beatles first performed in 1961 and soon established themselves as a resident band. The current Cavern is not the original cellar but was reconstructed after the old Caven was demolished in the early 1970s. The Beatles played at The Cavern for the last time in August 1963 after almost 300 appearances.
Leaving Mathew Street, head to The Royal Albert Dock to Immerse yourself in the Beatles music, history, philosophy and their extraordinary lives at the award-winning ‘The Beatles Story’ museum, located at The Royal Albert Dock. This is the world's largest permanent exhibition purely devoted to telling the story of ‘The Beatles’. ‘The Beatles Story’ will take you on a moving journey of music, fame and psychedelia with the fab four.
Hear the story unfold with audio guides as you browse through replicas of the Casbah, the Cavern and the streets of Hamburg and see rare exhibits and photographs of the Beatles and the people and places that played a part in their lives. You'll be moved by John's recording of "Imagine" in the mysterious white room.
