After arriving at Plymouth, take a short transfer to the Mayflower Museum. Set over three floors, you will discover the story of the voyage of the Pilgrims and their journey on board the Mayflower to the New World.
Begin your self-guided tour by stepping on the balcony on the top floor, wowed by a panoramic view of today’s busy Barbican, a historic area of Plymouth dating from the time when the Pilgrims were on their epic voyage. As you explore the various galleries, learn about the Pilgrims courage to move to the New World and evidence of the early refugees stay in Plymouth can be found on the streets around the city. Don’t miss the great model of the Mayflower Ship built on a 1:11 inch scale by apprentices at Devon Port Royal Dockyard.
Your tour continues with a short walk to a newly opened exhibition, The Box, the largest exhibition that was recently built as part of a wider legacy project, commemorating Mayflower 400 in the UK, which took place in 2020. The Box has a lot to see, and your guide will be able to take you on a whistle stop tour of the galleries before you pause for refreshment. Enjoy a pot of special Mayflower blend Plymouth Tea, with a freshly baked scone, local clotted cream and jam.
You will then have a little time to explore independently or go back to your favorite area before a short transfer back to Plymouth Port
