In the heart of Devon lies Dartmoor National Park -- home to more than 30,000 people, including the farmers and foresters who work the land for their livelihood. Dartmoor is justly famous for its wide-open moors, wooded valleys, rushing rivers and wildlife. Its scenery is dominated by rugged tors and outcroppings of granite formed around 280 million years ago.
Journey 40 minutes through the park to Princetown for a short visit to the Moorland Visitor Centre and gain valuable insight into the natural and cultural heritage of the moor.
Continue to the pretty Hamlet of Postbridge. From there, your guide will escort you on a walk to the local pub. This is a very moderate, scenic walk with archeological interest along the way.
At the delightfully situated Warren Inn Pub, a typical Dartmoor establishment, enjoy a traditional and simple Ploughman's lunch. A local favorite, it consists of a bowl of soup and a platter of cheeses or meats, with pickles and salad and crusty bread and, of course, a pint of English beer.
By coach you'll travel back across the moor and return to Plymouth.
