Your motor-coach will take you to the city center, where upon arrival into West London you will embark on a whistle stop panoramic tour, followed by a visit to the Tower of London. The great fortress and palace founded by William the Conqueror to defend the city. It lies on the River Thames in a strategic position to control the river and London Bridge, as well as the city itself. Passing the uniquely costumed Yeoman Warders, you'll enter the Tower of London via the 13th-century gateway. Walk for approximately 90 minutes through the various highlighted sections with your guide, who will explain the history of this great bastion of British heritage. The Tower is also the Treasury of the ornaments and jewels of the crown. The Crown Jewels are on display in the Waterloo Barracks, and the collection consists of all the regalia used in Coronation ceremonies and on state occasions, as well as priceless historic plates and many precious gems.
From here, take advantage of approximately 90 minutes of free time to explore the surrounding area before you meet your coach at a predetermined meeting point and return to Portsmouth.
Please note: There is an extensive transfer time between Portsmouth and London. Guests should be reminded to set their watches to local time to ensure they don't miss the return transfer to ship. Sites seen during panoramic drive are subject to traffic conditions and guide discretion. There will be an opportunity for guests purchase lunch (at their own expense) during the free time. To accommodate this tour during shorter calls in Portsmouth, the tour duration may vary by approx. 30 minutes.
