Nestled in the heart of Glenshesk, one of the nine Glens of Antrim, Dunfin Farm offers an authentic glimpse into traditional sheep farming against a backdrop of rolling hills and lush wooded valleys. This is a place where heritage and nature come together in one of Northern Ireland’s most idyllic landscapes.
Your guided visit begins with an introduction to the farm’s long-standing traditions and the vital role of sheep farming in the glens. Watch in awe as a skilled sheepdog demonstrates its agility and intelligence, responding to commands with precision to gather the flock—a remarkable display of teamwork between dog, shepherd, and sheep.
Depending on the season, you may even have the chance to hold a baby lamb in spring or witness a sheep-shearing demonstration from May to September, offering a hands-on connection to rural life.
Continue your experience with a guided nature walk along the farm trail, leading into surrounding peat bogland and ponds. Along the way, discover unique wildlife and plant species that thrive in this special habitat, and learn how the farm balances lamb production with nature conservation.
Please Note: The nature walk includes inclines and uneven terrain, so comfortable footwear is essential. Duration of the visit is approximately 2.5 hours, including the farm demonstration and guided walk.
