Departing from the port of Dover, you’ll travel across the county of Kent, passing through some of the most beautiful stretches of countryside nestled in the corner of the South of England. Known as the 'Garden of England' for hundreds of years, its rolling hills and beautiful scenery makes Kent one of the most sought after locations to live in within the whole of the UK. Host to rolling hills, country estates and fruit filled orchards, and even the strawberries eaten at Wimbledon are cultivated in Kent.
After transferring via coach, you will embark on the train to experience the nostalgia of steam railways as you travel on the Kent and East Sussex Rail Line through the countryside of this rural area. The journey will take you through marshes, rich farmland, sheep dotted landscapes and valleys. With the railway line originally closing in the 1950s, railway enthusiasts have worked tirelessly to renovate and restore the track which you will travel down.
Whilst on board, you will enjoy a quintessentially British refreshment - a traditional cream tea. A cream tea consists of a combination of scones, clotted cream and jam alongside a pot of English Breakfast Tea. Watch out for the discussions surrounding whether the clotted cream or jam should be applied first, a common argument between native British!
Once you have disembarked the train you will enjoy a scenic drive back to the pier.
Please note: Dress in layers. This tour is available only to in-transit guests whose cruise does not end in Dover.
