This charming seaside town was a hugely popular tourist resort in Victorian times. A gentle stroll around the town today will include some of the relics from this grand era including the Winter Gardens. The pavilion here is now home to the local information center but once hosted some of the best-known Music Hall entertainers of the time.
The old town of Rothesay is centered around Rothesay Castle. This now ruinous Castle dates to the 13th Century and is unique for its early date and unusual circular plan. Take time here to explain the history of the castle and its close links to the Stewart dynasty.
Situated just behind Rothesay Castle is the Bute Museum. A visit here is also included to learn more about the wider human and natural history of the Isle of Bute.
From here take a leisurely stroll back to the ship or take time to explore the town and shops at your own pace.
