With its wide open spaces, clean air, and reliance on natural green energy, Reykjavík stands out as one of Europe’s most modern and forward-thinking capitals. Aptly captured by the city’s slogan, Pure Energy, this spirit is felt everywhere—from sustainable heating systems to vibrant culture and creative life.
The tour includes extended time at Perlan (The Pearl), a truly unique landmark built in 1988. This striking glass dome sits atop former hot-water tanks and offers sweeping views over the city and surrounding landscapes. Guests will have ample time to explore Perlan’s engaging exhibitions, which showcase Iceland’s nature, geology, and innovative use of renewable energy.
A photo stop at the iconic Hallgrímskirkja Church highlights Reykjavík’s dramatic skyline. In the church square, the bronze statue of Leif Eriksson—a gift from the United States commemorating the 1,000th anniversary of Iceland’s Parliament—provides a powerful sense of scale and history. The experience concludes with a panoramic city drive past notable landmarks including the modern Harpa Concert Hall and Höfði House, the historic site of the 1986 Reagan–Gorbachev summit that helped bring an end to the Cold War. The tour ends with a transfer to Keflavik Airport .
Please Note:
This tour involves light walking and extended time indoors at Perlan’s exhibitions. Comfortable walking shoes and layered clothing are recommended. All transportation is included, with the airport transfer scheduled to align with flight departure times. This tour is available only to guests whose cruise ends in Reykjavík and who have flights departing at 4:30 PM or later.
