Leaving the pier, you will pass through the embassy neighborhood as you head to the island of Djurgården. This is Stockholm's green lung and is a part of the Stockholm National City Park.
You will visit the Vasa Museum, which houses the amazing warship Vasa -- pride of historic Sweden's mighty Navy. The present-day museum is built around this 17th-century warship, which ignominiously sank in Stockholm's inner harbor on her maiden voyage in 1628. The discovery of the Vasa in 1956, and its subsequent salvage in 1961, are considered to be among the most important events ever in maritime archaeology. Painstakingly restored to much of its original magnificence, the Vasa is an authentic piece of history.
A panoramic drive along Strandvägen showcases one of the city's most beautiful streets. This is part of the fashionable neighborhood of Östermalm and boasts stately apartment buildings.
Watch for the Royal Dramatic Theatre en route to the city center and head south past the Royal Opera and the Parliament Building. You will cross the bridge to the enchanting, medieval Old Town and the Royal Palace -- focal point for the enduring legacy of the Swedish monarchy -- before arriving at the airport.
Please note: The Vasa Museum is wheelchair accessible. Participants must be able to walk on/off the coach. Wear comfortable walking shoes. This tour is available only to guests whose cruise ends in Stockholm, with flights departing after 3pm.
