Today's tour is conducted in the style of histo-tainment by militiaman Comrade Jerjomin or his able assistant. Your guide is a charismatic person who can play the guitar, tell great stories about Soviet life, and sing Russian songs -- all while guiding you through the diverse and interesting city of Tallinn. (S)he demonstrates brilliantly how foreign visitors were once welcomed to the USSR -- line up, passport control, suspicious interviewing. Some vodka shots and pickles smooth the way while Soviet propaganda is expounded as you ride in an authentic Soviet bus.
Enjoy a Soviet-style picnic snack on the bus -- dining on a pie and sipping a local beverage reminds Jerjomin of his childhood days in Russia.
On the way back, you'll hear stories about the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games and stop by the Kalamaja and Kopli area, learn a couple of old-favorite Soviet songs and some modern expressions in Estonian.
Please note: Guests who wish to stay in the Old Town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so, but must make their own way back to the ship. Limited space available for this excursion.
