Explore the highlights of Trondheim, the third-largest city in Norway, on this comprehensive sightseeing tour from Ringve Manor to Nidaros Cathedral.
Leaving the city center, you'll head to Ringve Manor -- a typical manor house in the Trøndelag district. The Manor was originally the home of naval hero Admiral Tordenskjold. Today, it houses Norway's only musical instrument museum. What began as a private collection of instruments was opened to the public in 1952. The collection contains some 2,000 musical instruments from all over the world, and what makes this visit particularly interesting is the presentation and preservation of the collection. A musical student will guide your visit and play several of the instruments to demonstrate the development of the instruments and their specific music.
Returning to the city, you will visit Nidaros Cathedral -- Scandinavia's largest medieval building. A splendid Gothic structure dating back to the 12th century, this impressive church is built over the grave of St Olaf and boasts gorgeous stained-glass windows. It is an important destination for Christian pilgrims.
Take in a panoramic view of the city from the Sverresli Viewpoint before returning to the ship.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Dress warmly in layers; outer layer should be windproof and waterproof. Tour includes about .6 miles of optional walking.
