Discover the wonders of Tautra Island as you take a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) out to this bird watchers paradise, which hosts monastery ruins as well as the still active Maria Monastery.
Speed along the Trondheimfjord on your way to the small island of Tautra, known as "the pearl of the Trondheim Fjord." Tautra island is rich with bird life, flora and fauna, and is also where you will find the monastery ruins of the original "Tautra Mariakloster," dating back to 1207. After exploring the monastery ruins you will also have an opportunity to visit Maria Monastery, which is still an operating monastery. This new monastery homes 18 nuns and is complete with a small church and all the facilities needed to live.
Before your return RIB ride, you’ll visit the charming Klostergården farm where you’ll be treated to a local tasting and have a chance to savor one of their local beers.
Please note: It is recommended to dress in layered clothing and wear comfortable walking shoes. This tour is not recommended for guests with limited mobility, pregnant women or guests with back or neck problems. All participants will be given a weatherproof suit, life jacket and goggles.
