Transfer by motorcoach to Deauville — a famous seaside resort town known for its wooden plank promenade, which runs the length of the beach. The Planches, as it is called, is lined with elegant buildings, including the Pompeian Baths and the Soleil Bar, where celebrities are often seen.
Upon arrival in Deauville, enjoy an orientation tour that acquaints you with this delightful town. Free time follows for you to explore on your own.
Reboard your coach for a scenic drive through villages and past bocages — small fields delineated by hedges and trees creating a pastoral setting.
Discover the local Calvados at the charming Château du Breuil — an estate steeped in history. Built in the early 16th century, it has been home to several prominent families. Philippe Bizouard purchased the Château in 1954 to house his family's Calvados distillery. Today, the château provides perfectly for this activity, with its 69-acre park, industrial buildings, and a skilled workforce. Château du Breuil owns its own orchards, dotted about the surrounding villages and planted with 22,000 apple trees. Now listed as a Historic Monument, the château is a prime example of the architecture of the Pays d'Auge region. Sample some of the fine Calvados here — a delicious brandy.
Reboard the coach for the return drive to Rouen.
Please note: In the unlikely event that Château du Breuil distillery is unavailable, an alternative venue will be substituted. Tour requires walking and standing. Minimum age to drink alcohol is 18 years, with a companion aged 21 years or older.
