Gotland is Sweden's largest island with a breathtaking landscape of woodlands, vast heaths and flowering meadows, the island is a rich environment for agriculture. Spend the afternoon exploring and sampling some of the best the island has to offer.
Start by visiting 1 of the 92 medieval churches still in use on the island and admire the beautiful architecture and style.
Continue to Tofta Lodge & Beach Resort. The facility dates back to the 1930s when Swedes started visiting seaside resorts for recreation. Visiting families lived, dined and relaxed together with only a few meters to the sandy beach. Today, Tofta Strandpensionat retains the charming atmosphere of the 1960s, under the warm hospitality of the Jacobsson family.
During your visit you will have the opportunity to taste a selection of specialties from Gotland's cuisine, A very tasty stop!
Afterwards, head to Ansarve sheep farm. The farm is home to around 150 ewes and here you will also find some other Gotlandic products, made by Jenny Granlund and her family and friends. They produce clothes and interior details from wool, sheepskin and yarn. All from their own sheep!
Make a short stop at Gnisvärd, a picturesque fishing hamlet that dates back to 1700. Nearby is the Gnisvärd Ship Grave, a significant place of burial dating from the Bronze Age (about 600 BC). The grave consists of stones standing on their edge in the form of a ship. It was believed that the metaphoric ship would carry the departed chieftains on their voyage to eternity.
