Travel by motor coach to the village of Combarro, which is a study of traditional cultural elements. Narrow streets of the picturesque village leads to the seaside.
Notice the two different structures that are typical of the area. The first is a sort of raised granary called an horreo -- this one of the most commonplace constructions in Galicia and it is used for ripening, drying and storing grain. The second is a batea, and many of these can be seen floating in the middle of the estuary. Bateas are floating docks used for mussel farming. Enjoy some free time to walk about and take some very special pictures.
Head to the charming town of El Grove, and board a small boat for a trip along the estuary. Your guide will explain all about the mussel farming that forms the backbone of the economy of this area and has made it quite famous.
Sample fresh boiled mussels -- a delicious, briny taste of the region -- with white wine and soft drinks while enjoying a splendid view of the estuary.
