Begin your outing with a drive up to Mount Castro in Vigo to take in a very pleasant view of the city, the estuary and your ship.
Then, you'll travel along the beautiful inland roads of Galicia to La Guardia, near the border with Portugal, to visit Mount Santa Tecra. En route to the summit, you will stop at an Iron Age settlement -- one of the most important in Galicia. Experience beautiful and impressive views of the valley, the mountains and the ocean and the River Mino flowing out to the sea.
Meet the city of Bayona -- its harbor and fishing fleet make it one of the most important coastal towns in Galicia. This is the village where the caravel Pinta arrived after Columbus' first trip to America. See the Castle of Montréal -- an old fortress where a Parador (state-owned hotel) now stands. The castle retains its original outer walls complete with battlements and sentry walks, as well as the clock tower and the prince's tower.
Enjoy snacks and drinks at the Parador before returning to Vigo.
