Leave Saint Malo -- the Privateer City -- for a panoramic drive along the coastal road to Cancale.
A picturesque fishing village, Cancale is renowned for its bancs d'huîtres (oyster beds). The gardeners of the sea work between the parks and the farms, raising thousands of oysters from seedling to gourmet treat.
Enjoy a guided visit to the Ferme Marine (Sea Farm) and learn all the secrets of the mysterious oyster. Up for grabs are insights into the work of the oyster farmer, the workshop gear and methodology (tanks, washing, conditioning), and the Shell Museum.
A delightful oyster-tasting session, with a glass of white wine, allows you to savor the briny flavor and glossy texture of this expensive and delicious shellfish.
