This fabulous half-day sightseeing tour makes it easy to soak up the razzle-dazzle of one of the wealthiest communities in America. Begin your star-studded half-day adventure by taking in some of the top attractions of Santa Barbara on a panoramic drive.
Watch for Stearns' Wharf -- Santa Barbara's most-visited attraction. It's the oldest working wharf in California. Locals enjoy the views of the Pacific Ocean and watching fishing boats offload their morning catch. Head down the coast, passing the estate of the late Hugghette Clark. Daughter of a US congressman and oil tycoon, she had many residences and kept this 23-acre, 80-million-dollar estate fully staffed (at a cost of $40,000 a month); yet it was vacant for more than 60 years. The recluse's story in an interesting one and her home here in Montecito is now a museum.
The nearby town of Montecito has long been one of the favorite retreats of Hollywood stars and now it's your turn to experience its glamorous lifestyle. Magnificent private estates, beautiful landscaping, luxury shopping and casual star sightings challenge the natural beauty of its shimmering coastline. Drive along famous streets where the mega-mansions of celebrities, such as Oprah Winfrey, Rob Lowe, Ellen DeGeneres, Drew Barrymore and Eric Schmidt, will keep your camera clicking. In a city that boasts some of the most extravagant and expensive real estate in the country, you can't help but be amazed. Cruise down Coast Village Road, known as mini-Rodeo Drive. Watch for the famous Montecito Inn, built by Charlie Chaplin and Fatty Arbuckle, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, built in 1859.
You'll have an hour of free time to explore the upscale boutiques and cafés, often frequented by celebrities who make their homes here. Keep your camera handy in case you catch a glimpse of your favorite 'celeb' before you return to Santa Barbara and the ship.
