Once eclipsed by the Napa Valley, Sonoma County has come into its own as a producer of internationally acclaimed wines.
Travel across the Golden Gate Bridge with a brief photo stop at Vista Point at the northern end of the bridge. Admired for its magnitude and graceful beauty, the Golden Gate Bridge took more than four years to build and was completed in 1937. Its two towers rise an impressive 746 feet, 191 feet taller than the Washington Monument. Weather permitting, you’ll see sweeping views of San Francisco Bay and the city skyline, as well as Alcatraz, Angel Island and Yerba Buena Island, two islands situated in the San Francisco Bay, Berkeley, Oakland and downtown San Francisco.
You're headed to the Carneros District and the town of Sonoma, where visit two prominent wine producers to sample and purchase wines at each winery.
At Viansa Winery, enjoy a tasting experience at a hilltop estate overlooking a wetland habitat for herons, egrets and geese. Viansa offers panoramic views of the Sonoma Valley. Founded in 1990 by Sam & Vicki Sebastiani, Viansa is an ode to the Sebastiani family’s deep roots in both Tuscany an the Sonoma Valley. Now under the management of their sons Chris and Jon, Viansa continues to be a standout destination for the Italian varietal wines and warm hospitality."
Enjoy some free time in the pretty, character-laden central square of Sonoma to appreciate the laid-back atmosphere of this very cool, very homey California town. Explore the boutiques, tasting rooms and café’s for lunch (at your expense).
Head north to the Glen Ellen growing region, further up the Sonoma Valley. Located in the heart of Sonoma’s Wine Valley, BR Cohn Winery produces a variety of wines as well as a selection of olive oils and vinegars. Surround yourself with panoramic views of our estate vineyards, olive trees, and good company as you sip hand-crafted and one-of-a kind wines during a guided tasting.
