A panoramic drive through rural towns brings you to the Calathea Botanical Garden -- a magical place where you will learn about the wonderful world of tropical plants.
The garden connects to Piedras Blancas National Park, which is home to more than 300 bird species. Discover a variety of flora, natural history, local biodiversity, and beautiful feathered friends after a warm welcome and an educational introduction to the garden.
Follow your guide along easy trails past different plants, flowers, trees, and medicinal plants. Sample some of the fruits growing here.
Among the most popular birds that call this place home are hummingbirds, toucans, woodpeckers, trogons, tanagers, and parrots.
Please note: Tour requires approximately 1.5 hours of walking. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, slight inclines, and gravel. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Bring insect repellent.
