Set off from the pier for a short drive to Golfo Dulce National Park. This park is one of Costa Rica's finest and is a pristine haven of biodiversity. Lush rainforests meet the sparkling waters of the gulf -- the perfect spot for a nature walk to spot endemic flora and fauna.
After approximately an hour on the trail, pause to enjoy some fresh fruit.
Refueled, continue for another hour of nature walking, with your guide offering plenty of opportunities to see the amazing sights of this refuge. There are 11 species of heliconia, 31 species of orchid, and more than 12 species of fern. Four species of monkey also live here, along with 300 bird species, 139 mammal species and more than 200 species of amphibian and reptile. Encounters with wildlife are commonplace and stunning photo opportunities are everywhere.
Reboard the coach for a panoramic sightseeing drive back to the pier. Along the way, watch for an old locomotive from the banana export era and the Finca 6 Stone Spheres UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Please note: Tour requires walking 60-90 minutes. Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking, as the walk is very strenuous. Terrain includes unpaved, rough walking tracks with many steps, rocks and logs, and stepping stones across a stream, depending on water levels. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Wear closed-toe walking shoes. Bring insect repellent. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
