Air-conditioned transportation takes you through the countryside of coastal cattle and sugar farms and rising volcanic landscapes. Approach the city, which perches 5,000 feet above sea level, to discover this colonial jewel of the Americas that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You will visit Central Park, where the cathedral and Government Palace are located, the Church and Convent of La Merced and the unique Hotel-Museum Casa Santo Domingo.
At the old Casa Santo Domingo monastery, sit down to a magnificent buffet lunch. Afterward, you may wish to visit the in-house museums showcasing modern and colonial art, candles, ceramics and handicrafts.
Visit the famous Jade Museum & Factory, where fine jadeite jade is transformed into works of art that reflect ancient Mayan methods and designs. This type of jade is found mainly in Guatemala and Burma, and was the Maya people's most precious stone; learn about jade and its place in Mayan history. You will have some free time to shop for the perfect gift or memento before returning to the pier.
