Depart from Salaverry's port area for your tour's primary destination -- the city of Trujillo. This is the third-largest city in Peru and Trujillo still retains much of its colonial charm with a splendid backdrop of the vast green and brown of the Andean foothills. In the heart of Trujillo, you will see the pleasant and spacious Plaza de Armas, where the main cathedral and City Hall stand. Magnificent buildings with decorative windows and balconies surround this impressive colonial square.
Visit the Huacas de Moche Museum. It has an architectonic design that preserves the building tradition of Moche culture. There are three rooms in the museum. The first one offers ceramic details, which shows iconographic aspects and the Moche activities. The second room showcases different tombs, Moche jewelry and some of the ornaments used in ceremonial clothing. The last room is dedicated to the discoveries in Moche city.
Then, head south to visit the Moche Temples at the main religious center of the Mochica culture, built in the 5th century AD. Admire the Temple of the Sun, the largest adobe structure in the world, and the Temple of the Moon, covered with beautiful and vibrant Moche designs.
You'll have time for some shopping to discover that Peruvian artisans have a deep sensitivity and creativity influenced by the richness of their environment. Their fascinating and beautiful art expresses their identity, knowledge and singular technique. Get acquainted with the wide variety of traditional local products made by generation after generation.

Wear comfortable shoes; bring a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses. Your guide will do his/her best to speak English, but please keep in mind that the limited tourism infrastructure of Trujillo is part of the city's charm, and bear with any language difficulties he/she may encounter. Buses and other forms of transportation in Trujillo may be somewhat basic in comparison with those offered in some other ports of call. On Sundays, museums and colonial houses in downtown Trujillo are closed; the visit to the city will be a panoramic drive only.
