Nestled within the Cordillera Chongón-Colonche, the Cerro Blanco Protected Forest offers an unforgettable escape into one of Ecuador’s most ecologically rich and visually stunning landscapes. This nature reserve is a haven for adventurers, wildlife lovers, and curious explorers eager to discover the biodiversity and cultural heritage of Ecuador’s coastal mountains.
Begin your journey with a short drive from the port to Cerro Blanco, where you’ll be welcomed by expert naturalist guides. After a brief orientation and time to refresh, set off on a guided hike along the Canoa Trail, a scenic route that winds through the dry tropical forest—one of the most endangered ecosystems in the world.
As you walk, immerse yourself in the lush greenery, dramatic terrain, and serene atmosphere of this protected area. Keep an eye out for rare and endangered species, including howler monkeys, white-tailed deer, and over 200 species of birds, many of which are endemic to the region. Your guides will share insights into the conservation efforts that protect this fragile environment and the unique adaptations of its flora and fauna.
After the hike, relax and recharge with a picnic in nature, surrounded by the peaceful sounds and sights of the forest. It’s the perfect moment to reflect on the beauty and ecological importance of this pristine wilderness.
Conclude your adventure with a comfortable return drive to the port, carrying with you the memories of Ecuador’s wild heart and the inspiration of its natural treasures.
