In one of South Australia's earliest heritage precincts, you'll see everything from shipwrecks to dolphins, migratory birds, and the South Australia Maritime Museum.
Take a panoramic drive from Outer Harbor to Port Adelaide -- South Australia's first heritage precinct. From here, a river cruise aboard a comfortable and enclosed 16-seater vessel allows you to engage with the Port River's wildlife and maritime history.
Visit the iconic Ships' Graveyard to view the wreck of Santiago -- thought to be the oldest iron-hulled sailing ship in existence -- as well as many other abandoned ships within the graveyard.
Keep an eye out for the Port River dolphins -- among the world's few wild dolphin populations living within a city.
Garden Island is home to a host of migratory shorebirds, including threatened species such as the curlew sandpiper. Learn about the significant Aboriginal history of the area as well.
Back in the central city, make use of an entry ticket to the South Australian Maritime Museum, which explores and celebrates the human history of Earth's oceans and rivers. The museum takes a contemporary approach to interpreting the past.
You will have free time to explore Port Adelaide on a leisurely stroll or purchase lunch (at your own expense) in this iconic heritage area.
