The history of Albany is inseparable from that of the whaling industry. Take in the picturesque scenery of King George Sound and learn about this controversial industry as you travel.
Explore the Discovery Bay historical whaling station on the Flinders Peninsula, created from an authentic working whaling station. The museum faithfully depicts the good, the bad and the ugly aspects of a controversial industry that supported an entire community. After a 30-minute guided tour, you're free to explore on your own.
View the world's largest collection of original marine mammal paintings by artist Richard Ellis of New York, and check out the restored whale chaser Cheynes IV -- the centerpiece of the exhibit.
Stroll along the trail to the Gap in Torndirrup National Park. The earth drops 78 feet to the raging sea below.
Please note: Tour does not operate on holidays. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Terrain is uneven in places with steps and inclines.
