This two-parter outing introduces you to a local craft brewery and to the farm that grows its iconic (and delicious) flavor components.
O.K. Farms is one of the many farms that Ola Brew works with to create amazingly fruity, colorful beverages. Growing a diverse range of crops used in Ola's crafting, O.K. Farms is the key to the truly farm-to-glass experience you'll enjoy today. The farm is also home to the famous Wailuku River. The winding water borders the entire span of the 1,000-acre estate, providing multiple waterfall views, vast gorges and premium views of the bay. On the property, visit the enchanting Kaimukanaka Waterfall at the confluence of two major rivers in Hilo. End your time on the farm by taking in the iconic view of Rainbow Falls from a secluded lookout. This special vantage point allows for a view of the falls that public access cannot provide.
Take a walk through the fields and sample the flavors being grown right in front of you. Make your way through the farm, learning what flavor components are grown here, how they are processed, and how the wholesale market works.
Just down the hill, Ola Brew Company is one of Hawaii's very first agricultural breweries, focusing on utilizing locally-grown crops. This is where the lilikoi, vanilla, lychee, lemongrass and other delicious flavors are turned into zesty libations such as hard seltzers, ciders, teas, and beers. Working with farmers (including O.K.) Ola's beverages help to fuel the agriculture industry on the island and are innovative in so many ways. Step inside Ola Brew's taproom for some amazing, locally-made food pairings and flight samples, bringing the experience full circle from the farm where it's all grown to a cold glass served with style. Pick an American-Asian fusion-style appetizer served with a sampler flight of your beverage of choice .
Please note: Minimum age is 10 years. Wear comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes. Bring a light rain jacket. Water, food, drink samples, umbrellas and rain ponchos are provided. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water.
