Exploring the Ibusuki Sand Bath and exploring the beautiful Senganen Garden will provide you with the perfect blend of relaxation and cultural immersion, making for an unforgettable experience in Japan.
Your first stop is at Ibusuki – the Satsuma Peninsula's foremost resort, famed for its therapeutic sand baths. A tonic for circulation and general health, the hot springs heat the sand to approximately 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Upon arrival at a local hotel, you'll don a kimono (yukata) and sit back as you're covered with warm sand up to your neck. Relax and savor the sensation; then, you'll take a shower and a Japanese-style bath.
Next, you'll enjoy a Japanese-style lunch at a local restaurant.
Finally, head to Sengan-en Garden — a fine specimen of Japanese landscape gardening with Sakurajima and Kinko Bay harmoniously forming its beautiful backdrop. Here you’ll explore meticulously landscaped grounds, historic buildings and stunning views of Sakurajima volcano, creating a serene and picturesque setting.
Your tour concludes with a relaxing drive back to the pier.
