Embark on an exciting adventure to explore Togoville, a village located on Lake Togo. En route, stop at the village of Agbanakin, which was one of the trading posts of the infamous slave trade along the coast. Explore the house of slaves and learn about the role of this village in the trade.
Continue the adventure with a cruise on Lake Togo until you reach Togoville, the first capital of Togo under German flag. Upon arrival, you will be met by the heir to the throne of King Mlapa who signed the contract of the protectorate with the German explorer Gustav Nachtigal. The chief and village elders will graciously share the famous history of Togo and lead you on a tour of the Royal Palace Museum.
Visit the 17th century Catholic Church which hosted Pope John Paul II during his visit to Togo. Interact with the locals and hear their stories about the Pope’s visit to the village. Enjoy a delicious local lunch on the banks of Lake Togo before returning to the pier.
