To thoroughly enjoy your adventure, remember to wear a swimsuit under your clothes, and to bring towels, a hat, reef shoes, plenty of sunscreen and bottled water. If you're planning to snorkel, don't forget the fins, mask and flippers and a camera to record all the fun and exciting activities.
The fun begins when you step onto your mini-bus and drive past some of Luganville’s most engaging sights: sky-scraping palm trees, the Luganville Golf Course, sprawling coconut plantations and quaint rural villages.
About thirty minutes later you’ll disembark at the mouth of the Riri River. A friendly and knowledgeable guide will lead you to the bank where you’ll don a life preserver. Then, you’ll enter an authentic dugout canoe. After everyone is comfortably seated, you’re off for an unhurried two-hour journey. Don’t worry, you won’t be paddling; the "captain" will take on this chore so you can relax and enjoy your very own jungle cruise.
Continue to sit back and soak up the scenery as the tranquil river lazily meanders onward. As you glide along the gentle water admire the lush trees and vegetation that hug the shore and the birds that call out as you drift by. And marvel at the tropical flowers that peek out of verdant ferns and the schools of rainbow-colored fish that swim alongside your canoe.
Relish your wonderfully quiet surroundings as the crystal-clear water changes color right before your eyes. Here, nestled in the folds of the dense jungle, you’ll see the jaw-dropping Blue Hole, an enchanting oasis of tranquility.
Once your canoe has moored, get ready to take the plunge into the nearly 60-foot-deep, 164-foot-diameter freshwater pool that radiates light blue, teal, azure, cobalt, and sapphire. While the shades of blue are endless, you’ll have two hours to swim, snorkel or you can relax on the powder-soft sand and watch the palm trees sway.
At the end of your relaxing dip you’ll rejoin your mini-bus and begin your return back to Luganville, refreshed and ready to begin another adventure.
