Leave the harbor on foot and walk to the Rumah Budaya Museum. This facility showcases the herigate of Banda through artifacts and historical photos.
Not far away is the Old Church, built in 1611 by Pieter Both. This gentleman was the Dutch Governor from 1611 to 1621.
Along the way, you'll see the former home of Captain Christopher Cole -- Captain of British Marines who captured Belgica Fort and the Island of Naira.
Your guide will also show you Perigi Rante -- the place where Dutchman Jan Pieter Zoen Coen, Governor of Hindia Belanda, killed off his wealthy, plantation-owning countrymen so that he could seize their nutmeg plantations and keep all the associated revenues for himself.
You'll stop at Belgica Fort for terrific panoramic views of Banda. That mountain in the middle of it all is the snoozing Lewerani Volcano.
Visit a nutmeg plantation to learn about this tasty spice; then, stop at Mini Palace to see the statue of King William III and the former office of the VOC (Dutch East India Company).
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes.
