Situated on South Africa's malaria-free Garden Route, Kariega Game Reserve is a vast wilderness spanning 10,000 hectares in the Eastern Cape. Renowned for its diverse wildlife, including the iconic Big 5, the reserve is also home to a multitude of other animals such as wild cats, lynxes, hyenas, and jackals. Birdwatchers will delight in the abundance of birdlife, with the opportunity to spot the majestic African fish eagle. Nestled in an untouched part of the reserve, Settlers Drift offers a unique blend of tented safari and 5-star luxury. Each spacious tented suite boasts stunning views and private viewing decks, overlooking the Bushman's River where the footsteps of the 1820 Settlers still linger. This luxuriously appointed lodge promises an unrivaled guest experience.
Upon reaching Port Elizabeth, you will be greeted by a knowledgeable local tour guide who will escort you on a comfortable private coach to the magnificent Kariega Game Reserve, with a travel duration of about 1.5 hours. Once at Kariega, you will enjoy a scenic boat transfer to the lodge. After checking in, you will have time to refresh yourself before embarking on an exciting afternoon game drive.
Arrive back at lodge where you will enjoy dinner at the lodge.
Day 2 & 3
After rising early in the morning, you will be treated to a refreshing selection of tea and coffee before embarking on an exhilarating game-drive, exploring the captivating wildlife. Upon returning to the Lodge, enjoy a delightful full breakfast. The rest of the morning can be spent at your leisure or participating in one of the optional activities offered by the Lodge (additional cost).
Lunch will be served, after which you may relax within the resort and simply soak up the atmosphere.
Immerse yourself in an exhilarating afternoon game-drive led by a knowledgeable ranger, who will skillfully guide you through the wilderness as you eagerly track elusive wildlife. Moreover, indulge in the enchanting ritual of sipping refreshing sundowners while basking in the serene ambiance of nature's beauty.
After your eventful day, when you return to the cozy Lodge, you will be indulged with a delectable dinner, carefully prepared to tantalize your taste buds. Immerse yourself in the warm and welcoming atmosphere as you savor the renowned South African hospitality, ensuring a truly memorable and enjoyable dining experience.
Day 4
Wake up early in the morning and start your day with a refreshing cup of tea or coffee before embarking on an exciting game drive. After the drive, head back to the Lodge for a leisurely breakfast. Once you're done, complete the check-out process. Your local English-speaking tour guide will then take you to Port Elizabeth Airport for your flight to Cape Town. Don't worry about lunch, as the lodge will provide you with a lunch pack for the journey.
On arrival you will be assisted with your flight check-in to Cape Town.
Upon reaching Cape Town, make your way to the baggage claim area to collect your belongings and rendezvous with your knowledgeable local tour guide. They will accompany you on your road transfer to the Cape Town Cruise Terminal, where you will embark back on your cruise ship that eagerly awaits your return.

Due to the popularity of this tour and strict booking conditions, this tour has a 90-day cancellation. Any cancellations made within 90 days of arrival into Port Elizabeth will be charged the full amount of this tour. This will include if a guest cancels their voyage within 90 days of arrival into Port Elizabeth, guests will be charged the full amount of the tour.
Notes:
Bring sturdy non-skid walking shoes. This tour is available only to guests whose cruise does not begin or end in Port Elizabeth or Cape Town. The contents and order of activities in this program are subject to change by the lodge management without prior notice due to the prevailing weather conditions and wildlife movement on the reserve. Early morning game drives in open vehicles can be a little cool -- bring a windbreaker. During the day, temperatures can be extremely hot. The game drive vehicle may not be covered. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Ride will be bumpy. Guests with back or neck conditions are not allowed to participate. Not advisable for guests with mobility limitations. Waiver must be signed and medical conditions disclosed. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed. Participants are not permitted to use cell phones during the game drives or to speak loudly or stand up in the game drive vehicle, as this will disturb the animals. Smoking is not permitted. An escort from the ship's staff may or may not also accompany the group. You must book this overland PRIOR to sailing. Tour operates subject to meeting a minimum number of participants. The cut-off date is 90 days before the ship's call at Port Elizabeth, with no cancelations permitted thereafter. Due to the popularity of this tour and strict booking conditions, cancellation fees start 90 days prior to the call at Port Elizabeth. Accommodation is included (subject to change). Airport assistance and transfers, transportation by air-conditioned coach, all entrance fees indicated in the itinerary, an English-speaking guide (unless otherwise noted), water on the vehicle, and meals (as indicated) are also included. Gratuities and personal expenses are not included. Bring your passport with you on tour. South Africa requires two blank passport pages per entry. malaria risk area; see your physician well in advance of travel for appropriate prophylaxis medication.
