Enjoy a panoramic drive to the Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, situated on the coast in northeastern Busan. This superb temple was first built in 1376 during the Goryeo Dynasty.
Don't miss this chance to also visit the Ahopsan Forest, owned and "gardened" by the same family for more than 400 years. It remains in a relatively natural state and was closed to the public for 400 years throughout the Japanese occupation, liberation, war, and industrialization. The forest acts as a green belt and water source, preserving a healthy natural environment and ecosystem. The family opened the forest to the public in 2016 to highlight the importance of conservation. A total of 116 trees are designated protected trees. As you follow the path on foot, red pine, hinoki cypress, and oak trees greet you, but perhaps the most impressive and important element is the enormous stands of towering bamboo.
Following this pleasant stroll through the forest, return to the pier, rejuvenated and relaxed.
Please note:
The Ahopsan Forest is closed on Mondays; a visit to the APEC Nurimaru House will be substituted. Terrain includes 108 steps to reach the Haedong Yonggungsa Temple and uneven surfaces. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Minimum age is 8 years.
