Post-Cruise Itinerary Overview

Day 1: Begin this Spanish overland journey with an orientation tour of the fascinating city of Barcelona on your way to the world-famous Boqueria Market where you will have free time for lunch on your own and to explore the unique stalls filled with a variety of fruits, vegetables and other local goodies. Following your free time, check in to your hotel for some time to relax. In the evening, meet your wine ambassador guide for a walking tour, visiting several different spots around the city to taste a selection of tapas perfectly paired with diverse wines from across the country.

Day 2: Set off on a panoramic sightseeing tour of Barcelona including the Columbus Monument, Plaza de Cataluña, and Paseo de Gracia where you will have free time for lunch and to explore on your own.  Spend the afternoon focused on the world-renowned architect Antoni Gaudi. Visit his best-known work, the spectacular Sagrada Familia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Under construction since 1888, it is one of the most cherished monuments in Spain.  Visit Casa Mila, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the last private residence he designed. From the top of Montjuïc Hill enjoy a panoramic view of the city and wind through the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter.  Enjoy dinner accompanied by spectacular 360-degree views of the city and Mediterranean Sea.

Day 3: Enjoy a scenic 4-hour drive along the coast to Valencia, once a royal capital.  During a guided walking tour, Valencia’s Roman, Moorish, and Spanish history comes alive. Sights seen along the way include: Town Hall Square, the Central Market, Lonja (The Silk Exchange) and the Serrano Towers among many others. Enjoy some free time for lunch before checking into the hotel. For dinner, experience a staple of Spanish cuisine with a special paella before returning to the hotel.

Day 4:  Enjoy some free time to explore Valencia before boarding the coach for a scenic 4-hour drive to Madrid, Spain’s largest city. Have an orientation tour of the city before checking in to your hotel. Have the afternoon free to explore and have lunch on your own. Tonight, learn the story of tapas and their remarkable journey to become one of the most fashionable cuisines in the world as a chef guides you through preparing your own dinner. The menu features seven recipes; five traditional tapas, a dessert and sangria – take home the recipes to enjoy again and again.

Day 5: The capital since 1561, Madrid today is a strikingly modern city that has preserved the look and feel of its historic neighborhoods and streets. Discover hidden gems of the city on a guided walking tour, including Plaza de España, Parliament, Cibeles Fountain, and Paseo de Castellana among others. Visit the palatial Prado Museum, considered one of the greatest art museums in the world and home to one of the world’s finest collections of European art with over 1,300 works on display. Enjoy the afternoon and evening at leisure to relax or do some exploring on your own.

Day 6: Enjoy a scenic hour-long drive to the ancient capital city of Toledo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known as the "City of the Three Cultures" for the cultural influences of Christians, Muslims, and Jews throughout its long history. Visit the Toledo Cathedral, considered an archetype for Gothic cathedrals in Spain.  See one of El Greco's most famous paintings in the Church of Santo Tome. Have lunch at a local restaurant before your return journey to Madrid. Enjoy dinner accompanied by a Flamenco show for the perfect farewell to your time in Spain.
