Those seeking wellness come to Israel for the healing power of the highly-mineralized mud of the Dead Sea and for healthful foods, often raised communally, from its vitamin-laden soils.
Begin your day with a drive to Tarabin -- a Bedouin settlement and camel farm near Beer Sheva and the Dead Sea. An unlikely partnership between the Tarabin tribe and medical laboratories has yielded some intriguing products for medical and cosmetic usage. At the camel farm, you'll hear about and try their products -- a one-of-a-kind experience highlighting both traditional camel farming and modern uses of camel milk.
You'll also visit Arad and the nearby Yatir Winery. With a rather compelling terroir of free-draining, loamy soil, Yatir is widely considered one best wineries in Israel. Enjoy a wine-tasting session at this strictly Kosher winery, with an explanation of the wine-growing process from vine to glass.
Lunch is served in the Dead Sea area.
You will have a chance to 'swim' in the Dead Sea, but no effort is required on your part as the water here is so mineral-rich that you literally can't sink. It's a fascinating sensation. Make use of the hotel/spa changing rooms and showers before you return to Ashdod port.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shade is limited; please dress accordingly. Bring your swimsuit, a towel, biodegradable sunscreen and a hat. Light-colored swimsuits may discolor in the Dead Sea.
