Set off from the pier on a guided walk through the town of Qaqortoq. You will pass the museum and the town's famous fountain en route to the Old Town area.
Watch for the church and for local shops selling everything from household items to reindeer skins and hand-made souvenirs. You'll also see Qaqortoq's school. As you walk, your guide will tell you all about life in the Arctic. You'll gain some insights into the life and times of the largest village in South Greenland with an impressive 3,500 inhabitants.
Qaqortoq is famous for the artwork found throughout the town — a permanent exhibit called Man & Stone which includes 31 engraved sculptures dotted about the open spaces of Qaqortoq.
Please note: Bring a mosquito net and insect repellent. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Limited tourism infrastructure is part of the charm here; you are trading breadth of guide experience for authentic interaction. Please bring your spirit of adventure and bear with any language difficulties or operational surprises that may crop up. Restrooms are not available on tour. All of the sights you'll see on tour are accessible on foot from the tender pier, but your guide offers perspectives that you may not be aware of if you explore on your own.
