In Conversation with Caroline Holmes - We are delighted to advise that Seabourn Conversationalist Caroline Holmes, Garden Historian will join this tour.
Home of the Londonderry family since the early 18th century, Mount Stewart was Lord
Castlereagh’s house and played host to many prominent political figures. You will enjoy a self
guided tour of this wonderful house with your local guide bringing the past back to the
present day. The profusion of astrological designs, stained glass and marble is breathtaking,
and all combine to envelop the visitor in the mystique and history of the house.
The magnificent gardens planted in the 1920’s have made Mount Stewart famous and earned
it a World Heritage Site nomination. Edith, Lady Londonderry created the gardens, from 1921.
A magnificent collection of fine trees and rare shrubs from all over the world flourishes in the
gardens of Mount Stewart. As you stroll through these fine gardens you will have the
opportunity to immerse yourself in the aroma and vibrant colors of this wonderful, peaceful
place.
