Explore the beautiful nature that Bergen has to offer as you hike from the mountain top of Floyen to a family-driven farm nestled in historical and idyllic surroundings.
You will begin your walk past Bryggen -- a UNESCO World Heritage Site -- where your guide will tell you about the legendary Hanseatic site. You will see the famous Fish Market and continue to the funicular that ascends to Mount Floyen.
At the top of Mount Floyen, begin your hike across the mountain to Ovre Eide Farm. Discover the unique nature of Norway while passing lakes, wild rivers and breathtaking views. At the top of Mount Sandviken, you will make a brief stop to enjoy some chocolate. Afterward, descend into the valley of the old mail route between Trondheim and Bergen to reach Ovre-Eide Farm.
Upon arrival at Øvre-Eide Farm your host will give you a warm welcome and invite you to discover this unique family owned farm nestled in historical surroundings with roots dating back to the 16th century. This farm is located in the idyllic surroundings of Lake Jordal where the fjord horses graze on green pastures. The owner of the farm will lovingly prepare some typical Norwegian specialties for you and entertain you with exciting stories about traditional farm life in the countryside.
Please note: Due to maintenance the funicular will be closed until the end of March 2022, during this time an alternative hiking trail will be used to access the top of Mount Floyen. It is recommended that guests dress in layered clothing and wear flat comfortable walking or hiking shoes. This hike covers 8.5 km and involves some steps, uneven ground, cobblestones, and gradual slopes. Comfort stop available at Ovre Eide Farm.
