Suitable for families, this is a relaxed, easy paddle taking in the greenery and wildlife of the nature reserve.
First, tour Doha with a panoramic drive along the Corniche -- the four-mile coastal route that stretches from the Museum of Islamic Arts to West Bay. Impressive skyscrapers designed by world-famous architects create a magical skyline.
Al Khor is a beautiful fishing village 15 miles north of Doha. It is to be a FIFA World Cup town in 2022 and has undergone a huge revitalization program that includes the building of eight stadiums.
Continue to Al Thakhira, where the mangroves are located. Listen to a safety briefing and hop into a kayak, paddling out through the mangroves for about two hours. A long, winding mangrove channel takes you deep into the forest. The area is home to a lot of birdlife and is a favorite destination for nature-lovers.
