Sample some of the historic sites and popular attractions of Dubai from the comfort of a motor coach on this panoramic sightseeing tour. As you travel you'll notice that this city-state is a dichotomy offering endless contrasts between the unthinkably ancient and the ultra-modern. Here, two worlds collide in a noisy, colorful fusion that is both startling and thrilling. Begin with a short drive through Al Bastakiya -- the small Old Town area where narrow alleyways wind mysteriously around an ancient but beautifully restored fort. Notice the well preserved old houses that are still cooled by wind towers -- an ingenious age-old form of air-conditioning. You'll stop for photos along famed Dubai Creek -- which is not a creek at all but is in fact a wide and busy river -- then take the underwater Shindagah Tunnel to reach the Deira section of Dubai. This area is best known for its markets, where it is possible to purchase everything from a toaster to a lump of frankincense -- two items indispensable to every home. But the most noteworthy part of the market district is surely the gold souk (market) and you'll stop here for some free time at the dazzling stores where literally everything that glitters really is gold. Continue to Jumeirah, the picturesque palace and residential area of Dubai and snap a few photographs at the Jumeirah Mosque. Further along the coast, less profound but equally interesting, is the iconic Burj Al Arab -- the world's tallest water-based hotel. Enjoy a quick stop for photos. It's no coincidence that this spectacular love-it-or-hate-it behemoth rising from the Gulf billows like a full sail. Finally, transfer to Dubai International Airport in time for your flight.
