No two bicycle rides through Stone Town are ever the same because there's always something special going on. Your guide will explain the challenges of preserving the UNESCO World Heritage Site Island of Mozambique as you observe the careful restoration work going on around you.
Criss-cross the island and wind your way through the narrow alleys of Stone Town. Negotiate the bustling streets of Makuti, brimming with life and color. Expect to see Tufo dancing, or the day's catch being landed, hard bargains being driven at the market, or children engaged in a loud and lively game. Your guide will skillfully introduce you to a day in the life of the island.
Please note:
Helmets are provided and must be worn. Shade is limited; please dress accordingly. Bring bottled water and a hat, and wear sunscreen. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. You must be physically fit and know how to ride a bicycle. The level of guide experience varies in Ilha de Mozambique due the remoteness of its location. Limited tourism infrastructure is part of the charm here, and you are trading breadth of experience for authentic interaction. Please bring your spirit of adventure and bear with any language difficulties your guide may encounter and with any operational surprises that may crop up.
