Welcome to Peru, the Kingdom of the Sun—a land where ancient traditions blend seamlessly with colonial heritage. This journey takes you deep into the Andes, where breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural history await. Peru is one of the most ecologically diverse countries in the world, home to 83 of the planet’s 103 ecological zones. While the Spanish conquistadors came in search of gold, they never discovered the true treasure—Machu Picchu, the legendary Lost City of the Incas.
Day 1: (L, D)
After disembarking your ship in Callao, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight to Cusco, the historic capital of the Inca Empire. Upon arrival, your local guide will greet you and take you to a charming local restaurant for lunch.
In the afternoon, embark on a guided city tour of Cusco. Begin at the Coricancha, the Temple of the Sun, originally built by the Inca emperor Pachacutec and later transformed into the Convent of Santo Domingo by the Spanish. Continue to the Plaza de Armas to visit the magnificent Cusco Cathedral, a masterpiece of Spanish colonial architecture. Built over nearly a century starting in 1560, the cathedral features a Latin Cross layout and houses over 400 paintings from the Cusco School of Art, along with intricate gold, silver, and gemstone works.
After your tour, check in to your hotel and relax before an enchanting evening. Enjoy a traditional dinner accompanied by a live performance of ancestral Andean music. Overnight in Cusco.
Day 2: (B, L, D)
After breakfast, your unforgettable journey to Machu Picchu begins. Depart Cusco by bus and head to the train station, where you’ll board the Vistadome Observatory Train. This scenic ride follows the winding path of the Urubamba River through the Sacred Valley, offering panoramic views of the Andes as you travel to the town of Aguas Calientes, located at approximately 9,350 feet above sea level.
Upon arrival, it’s a short walk to the bus terminal, where you’ll board a shuttle for a 30-minute ride up the mountain to Machu Picchu. The road is unpaved and winding, but the reward is extraordinary: standing at 7,874 feet, the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu awaits. With your expert guide, explore the mysteries of this UNESCO World Heritage Site—an awe-inspiring city built by the Incas with masterful stonework that continues to baffle modern engineers. The precision and scale of the construction, achieved without modern tools, is nothing short of astonishing.
After your guided tour through the ruins, enjoy a relaxing lunch at a local restaurant in Aguas Calientes. Then, return to the train station for your scenic ride back aboard the Vistadome Observatory Train to Ollanta Station. From there, a comfortable 1.5-hour bus transfer brings you back to Cusco.
You’ll arrive in the evening, filled with memories of one of the world’s most iconic archaeological wonders. Enjoy dinner and a restful night at your hotel in Cusco.
Day 3: (B, L)
After breakfast, you’ll check out and transfer to the Cusco airport for your flight back to Lima. Upon arrival in Lima, a comfortable transfer will take you to the General San Martin port. Along the way, enjoy a relaxing lunch at a local restaurant, offering a final taste of Peruvian cuisine.
In the afternoon, you’ll arrive at the port and rejoin your cruise, carrying with your unforgettable memories of Peru’s rich history, breathtaking landscapes, and ancient wonders.
