Begin your day with ease with a pick-up for you and your luggage directly from the Belmond Copacabana Palace hotel. It's a transfer to the ship with a difference, as you step behind the scenes of Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival and discover the culture, creativity, and community behind one of the world’s most celebrated festivals.
This immersive experience offers an introduction to the world of Rio’s samba schools while tracing the origins of samba through the historic district known as Little Africa, where important chapters of the city’s cultural heritage continue to resonate today.
Presented by Pimpolhos of Grande Rio in partnership with the renowned Grande Rio Samba School, this experience provides insight into the year-round work that brings Carnival to life. Learn how musicians, dancers, artisans, costume designers, choreographers, and producers collaborate to create the spectacular parades that captivate audiences from around the world.
Travel by coach to Samba City, where the workshops of Rio’s samba schools reveal the craftsmanship behind Carnival. During your visit, discover the history of samba and the evolution of Carnival while exploring the different stages of production. Learn how elaborate costumes are designed and created, and see how the impressive floats and sculptures take shape behind the scenes.
Guests will have the opportunity to view Carnival floats on display, try on authentic Carnival costumes for memorable photographs, and enjoy a traditional Brazilian caipirinha prepared with cachaça, lime, and sugar.
Relax on the return journey on board the coach, ending with a very convenient drop-off at the ship at the pier in Rio de Janeiro.
Please note:
This tour is exclusively available to guests embarking on their Seabourn voyage in Rio de Janeiro. All participants will meet at the iconic Belmond Copacabana Palace, where a Seabourn representative will be on hand to assist with registration and luggage handling.
Guests staying at other accommodations are responsible for arranging their own transportation to the hotel, including luggage, at their own expense. To ensure a seamless departure, all participants should arrive at the designated meeting point at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled tour departure time, as the coach will depart promptly.
Reservations must be made no later than four calendar days before your embarkation date.
Due to a significant number of stairs within the warehouse and the absence of elevator access, this experience is not recommended for guests with mobility limitations. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
