This excursion will allow you enjoy the wild nature of this portion of northern Patagonia. In this area, the Andes Mountain Range sinks into the ocean, and that phenomenon has created dozens of small lakes, and rivers. The excursion begins with a short drive from Puerto Chacabuco to Lake Los Palos.
Upon arrival, listen to a short briefing; then, enjoy kayaking along the western shore of the lake northward as far as the Tabo River, which feeds the lake. This is an area of calm, crystalline waters. The navigation is upstream, allowing you to see a variety of endemic vegetation, and also the typical Patagonian birds that inhabit this area—kingfishers, eagles, and several types of ducks and caiquenes. Stop to take a short walk into the woods; then, continue to a small island planted with native vegetation. Rest a while and enjoy a light snack before returning to the starting point.
