Arendal, Norway

Two island lighthouses welcome you to this old town in Southern Norway. Pollen, the main harbor, is a bustling waterfront that hosts a fish market, restaurants and pubs. It is also the starting spot for the annual Norwegian Grand Prix of F1 powerboat racing. The town’s Tyholmen neighborhood preserves a number of 17th century wooden houses. Also admire the handsome Trinity Church. Nearby Lyngor is one of Europe’s best-preserved traditional villages. Klocker Hus is a time-capsule of life here a hundred years ago. The town was the inspiration for Arendell in the film “Frozen.”
