Bluff (Invercargill), New Zealand

They call Bluff “Where the Highway Begins.” It was the first European settlement in New Zealand, and an important base for the early shipping, whaling and sealing industries. Today it welcomes visitors enjoying the Scenic Southern Route from the wide streets and historic buildings of Invercargill 27 kilometers to the north. Delicious Bluff oysters have been a famous treat since harvesting began in the late 19th century.
